Button16 Important.png Important: Since SeqSphere version 8, it is recommended to use Local Single Linkage Clustering IDs to find and store clusters in the database, and not the MST Clusters.

As the calculated clusters in a MST are depending on the chosen number of samples, there is currently no shortcut function to store the MST clusters directly into sample database fields. However, there are two options to store them indirectly:

First Option: Store only a few selected MST Clusters

  • Step 1: Right-click on a Sample of a MST Cluster in the MST, and choose "Select MST Cluster".
  • Step 2: Now go back to the comparison table, and right-click in the column "Cluster/Outbreak" on one of the selected sample (=belonging to the cluster), and choose "Set Value and Store to Database for Cluster/Outbreak".
  • Step 3: In the upcoming dialog enter a name for the cluster and confirm to store the value into the database field

If the comparison table does not have the column "Cluster/Outbreak", choose in menu "Columns > Add Additional Database Fields as Columns" to add it.

Second Option: Export/Store all MST Clusters

  • Step 1: In the MST windows menu choose "View > Create Groups for MST Clusters". The samples in the comparison table will then by colored by the clusters.
  • Step 2: Now choose in the comparison table menu "File > Export Table Data (xls/csv)". In the upcoming dialog be sure to select the box "Export Color Grouping Column", remove the target columns if not needed, and confirm the dialog.
  • Step 3: The exported Excel/CSV file will have the MST cluster names in the last column, named "-Group-". This table also be used to import the cluster names to the samples in the database (menu "File > Import Metadata")
