Software Update to Version 10.5
The update to version 10.5 requires to update the CLIENT and the SERVER software. The installation of both updates requires administration rights on the computer(s) where the client and server are running. If only the server software is updated users can still login but will receive a warning and some new features will not work. The same happens if only the client software is updated,
On Windows the update must be installed by downloading and executing the Windows installers below. The execution of the installers requires administration rights on the computer.
On Linux the update must be installed by removing (or renaming) the whole installation directory and replace it with the new one from tgz archive files below.
When the SeqSphere+ Client on Windows is started for the first time after updating, a dialog with an update for the Windows Subsystem for Linux will be shown. If updating from SeqSphere+ version 10.0 this WSL update is only needed for those wanting to use the new features of the Long-read Data Analysis Bundle (LDAB) and/or the new SISTR version.
Updating the SeqSphere+ Server
Updating the SeqSphere+ Server on Windows
- Close all SeqSphere+ windows.
- Download the Windows installer for the SeqSphere+ SERVER from below.
- Start the downloaded server installer executable and follow the messages of the installation wizard dialog.
- IMPORTANT: When updating SeqSphere 9 Windows Service installations, the Service is automatically reinstalled during the update. As a result, any manually configured user access settings for the Service will be lost. Therefore, it is important to review the Service user configuration and re-configure the user (e.g., if required to access network drives or the working directory).
Updating the SeqSphere+ Server on Linux
- Change into the installation directory and Shutdown the SeqSphere+ server process by calling './rcseqsphereserver.sh stop' (be sure to choose the correct Linux user).
- Change out of the installation directory, and Download the tgz-archive for the SeqSphere+ SERVER from below.
- Move or rename the old installation folder to another location, then extract the downloaded tgz-archive with:
tar xvzf RidomSeqSphereSERVER-10.5.0_(2025-03).tgz - If the run control script 'rcseqsphereserver.sh' was modified manually in the old installation (e.g., for changing the working directory), be sure to replace the new one with the old from the old installation.
- Start the SeqSphere+ server process again. (e.g., with './rcseqsphereserver.sh start')
Updating SeqSphere+ Clients
Updating SeqSphere+ Clients on Windows
- Exit all SeqSphere+ client processes.
- Download the Windows installer for the SeqSphere+ CLIENT from below.
- Start the downloaded client installer executable and follow the messages of the installation wizard dialog.
- Start the SeqSphere+ client and try to login to the server.
- Updating WSL: A dialog for downloading the new WSL image will be shown. If updating from SeqSphere+ version 10.0 this WSL update is only needed for those wanting to use the new features of the Long-read Data Analysis Bundle (LDAB) and/or the new SISTR version.
- Updating Task Templates: The task template update dialog will be shown automatically (if not shown, please invoke in Manage | Task Templates). This dialog first asks for the authorization that is now required by BIGSdb/pubMLST Oxford and Pasteur to retrieve MLST alleles/STs generated after 31.12.2024. A BIGSdb account is required for authorization. Do the authorization or confirm to continue with MLST data until end of December 2024 (authorization can be done at any time later). When the task template update is performed, changes for the two AMRFinderPlus task templates (and potentially for others) will be shown. Confirm the dialog to update the task templates to make them compatible with AMRFinderPlus v4. The task template updating must be done only once per SeqSphere+ Server.
Updating SeqSphere+ Clients on Linux
- Exit all SeqSphere+ client processes.
- Download the tgz-archive for the SeqSphere+ CLIENT from below.
- Move or rename the old installation folder to another location, then extract the downloaded tgz-archive with:
tar xvzf RidomSeqSphere-10.5.2_(2025-04).tgz - Start the SeqSphere+ client and try to login to the server.
- Updating Bioinformatic Tools: A dialog with an update for the bioinformatic tools will be shown. If updating from SeqSphere+ version 10.0 this WSL update is only needed for those wanting to use the new features of the Long-read Data Analysis Bundle (LDAB) and/or the new SISTR version.
- Updating Task Templates: The task template update dialog will be shown automatically (if not shown, please invoke in Manage | Task Templates).
